Are There Any Risks In Taking Turmeric Curcumin Extract?

By Jere Schirpke

Turmeric has long been used in many Asian countries, especially in India for making curry-based dishes. In the field of medicine, turmeric curcumin extract has a wide range of health benefits and is known as a potent defense against inflammation, bacteria, viruses, and cancer. Many of the diseases people have today are due to inflammation and this is what this extract mainly fights against.

Curcumin is derived from the roots of turmeric plant, primarily by crushing it and having it extracted. About 20 pounds of dry curcumin powder will have to be gathered for a yield of 2 pounds of turmeric curcumin extract. The great thing about this extract is that it is easily absorbed by the digestive system compared to spice turmeric, which means the health benefits is achieved faster.

Arthritis is one of the most debilitating and painful medical conditions that adults have nowadays. It targets the joints and can affect the mobility of an individual. With the help of turmeric curcumin extract, the enzymes known as COX-2 is immobilized and joint pains are alleviated. The extract also helps the adrenal glands in producing cortisone, a natural steroid that controls inflammation.

Curcumin extract is also known as an effective pain killer and therefore it can be used to fight against gout, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, bursitis, and headaches. As compared to pharmaceutical NSAID's, aspirins, and other varieties of pain killers, this extract is more effective and safer as well. In fact, a study in Thailand showed that it significantly reduces the pain caused by ulcers.

Curcumin extract has also proven its worth in cardiovascular health because of its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It is said to have thinning effects on the blood and therefore reduce the likelihood of blood clotting. Clotting of blood usually leads to heart attacks, thrombosis, and strokes. If you lower your blood cholesterol, taking this supplement can also be a good idea.

If you are having problems with skin diseases such as eczema and ringworm, you can make use of the extract from turmeric curcumin for treatment. The extract may also be used to hasten the healing process of insect bites, bruises, and cuts. For the digestive system, it can help the liver and gallbladder with its activities to ensure that the bile stays soluble and the formation of gallstones is prevented.

Turmeric curcumin extract is also widely known as an effective anti-cancer supplement and a lot of specialists have been amazed on how it's able to take out carcinogens with ease. It is said that it can help to prevent angiogenesis in which cancerous tumors form new blood vessels. When compared to the usual cancer treatments, this extract does not cause the immune system to be compromised.

The good news about turmeric curcumin is that it can be taken without any side effects as long as you don't go overboard with the dosage. You should be able to find supplements that contain around 600 to 800mg of curcumin per serving. It is not a good idea though for pregnant women to take this supplement, nor should people with diabetes or kidney problems without their doctor's permission.

Spineone Patient Review

By Jerome J Hoffman Jerome Hoffman was a patient at SpineOne in Denver, CO. He was violently rear-ended in an automobile accident in 2012 and needed help for acute back and neck pain. The treatment plan devised by the physician that Jerome saw included three main areas - muscle relaxer medicine, PT work done at the SpineOne Rehab Center, and 3 minimally invasive injections that were intended to "kick-start" the healing process - the injections had both steroids to assist in healing and an anesthesia to help with the pain. It took Jerome 2 months before he was feeling confident about the strength of his back and neck. After 4 months, he discontinued the medication and finished the last of the 3 targeted injections. He went to physical Therapy 2-3 times a week, where the focus was strengthening his core and teaching him how to do exercises on his own. The Physical therapist that he worked with was diligent about making sure that Jerome did his "homework" eve...
