When Are Porcelain Veneers Right For You?

By Harry Izzo

When it comes to dental procedures, understandably most people prefer anything that is more natural looking. Today invisible braces are preferred over the metal kind. Metal braces are not comfortable and prevent many people from showing a full smile in social situations. Conversely, porcelain veneers are worth showing off your teeth for.

Just like invisible braces are not for everyone, veneers also fall into this category. You and your dentist can best decide on the procedure that suits your issue, so you will want to consult with him.

Your teeth have to be healthy and in some cases fixed first. The reason for this is that veneers are bonded to the enamel and unhealthy teeth don't have the amount of the enamel needed to work with.

Chipped or cracked teeth are easily covered over with veneers. Smoke stains also are easily concealed by these thin shells. For smokers, rather worrying about the stains, why not just cover over the problem permanently with porcelain veneers. So long as a tooth is healthy then it doesn't matter if it is chipped, cracked or stained. Veneers easily attach to any healthy tooth.

Veneers can last as much as 10 years before they need to be replaced. They are a good investment in the long run even though most dental insurance does not cover this cosmetic procedure. The veneers bond extremely well to the enamel on your teeth. It is permanent and there is no going back once you've had them installed. They cannot be removed at all, unlike invisible braces or dentures. Only at the time of replacing them are veneers ever removed.

If you have bad habits, veneers may not be for you. For example, if you are teeth grinder, one that grinds his sleep or likes to chew the ice in their soda, you will have to stop this. Veneers are thin shells and very sensitive to this kind of abuse. If you seriously want this procedure you are going to have to curb the habit.

If you can break this habit and stop grinding your teeth then it is highly recommended that you have this dental procedure done. Pay your local dentist a visit and this dental procedure will give you back your perfect smile.

Trifocal Lenses Solve Many Vision Problems

By Brandon Powers As individuals age, they often notice vision problems that naturally occur as one grows older. Even though certain people may become frightened, vision changes of this kind do not typically indicate serious health issues. However, frustration can set in when one cannot see good enough to operate a car or read. Fortunately, trifocal lenses can be purchased for those who need multiple powers in one pair of glasses or contacts. In the 1780s, Benjamin Franklin invented the first bifocals. Before this invention, those who were afflicted with presbyopia, which is essentially being both nearsighted and farsighted, had to own several pairs of glasses, one for each condition. The first bifocals featured a line traveling the width of the lens. The top section was for distance vision, and the bottom for reading. As people reach their fifties, intermediate vision sometimes fails, depending on how the aforementioned presbyopia develops. When bifocals are used, a person c...

By Hans Gerhard A prominent North Royalton chiropractor provides pain relief for those stricken with carpal tunnel syndrome. The median nerve that passes through the wrist to innervate the hands and fingers becomes compressed. Signs are pain, tingling and numbness. Eight bones form a tunnel in the wrist. The median nerve will be impeded if that tunnel narrows for any reason. There can be swelling around the carpal bones that cause it to become narrowed.
