Synthroid weight loss is gaining some popularity because there are so many people who are looking for an easier way to get rid of those extra pounds. However, using Synthroid may have some side effects that are not good for people who don't have any thyroid problem. It is too risky to introduce extra hormones to your body especially if you are just taking Synthroid to lose weight.

There are so many healthier ways and better alternative to shed off your excess weight. It is not worth going through all these harmful side effects just to lose your weight. There is also a study that says if you've lose extra pounds by taking Thyroid hormones, you could easily gain it right back.

Why is Synthroid Prescribed by Doctors? Synthroid contains a thyroid hormone that is called Levothyroxine. This medication is given to patients who are being treated for hypothyroidism. Synthroid provides the additional hormone that is not being produced adequately by the patient's body. If you are suffering from hypothyroidism and you lack this hormone, your body will not function properly. People who have hypothyroidism has poor growth, gains weight, lacks energy, sensitive to coldness and has dry, thick skin. Synthroid may also be used for the treatment of goiter and congenital hypothyroidism. Some doctors also prescribe this drug for other uses.

The dosage you receive should start out at a low level and be gradually increased until your TSH level falls within the normal range. Sometimes finding the correct dosage is tricky and can take a while. A second thyroid panel taken after six weeks of hypothyroid treatment will tell if the treatment is working as it should. Once the correct dosage is established side effects are pretty rare. If the dosage is too high there is an increased risk of osteoporosis, heart palpitations and rapid heartbeat.

For women, too much of this hormone can affect their menstrual cycle by making it less frequent or stopping it altogether. Some people can also have Synthroid weight gain where they gain more weight when they use this drug. There are too many risk factors that should be considered when you are taking additional Thyroid hormones.
