By Ruby Prince

Many people are concerned about their health, especially when they get older. People want to know how best to avoid physical aging, cancer, disease and other problems associated with old age. Many things can cause these problems, including atoms known as free radicals. These atoms contain an odd number of electrons and are created when oxygen and specific molecules interact. These atoms are known for causing many problems in the body, which is why so many want to stop free radicals.

These have a chain-like reaction when they form. The primary danger lies in the cellular damage they are capable of when it comes to DNA, cell membrane and other important components of the body. Cells may die off or poorly function as a result. Prevention is best handled by creating some form of defense mechanism.

There are a lot of different claims to the best defense mechanism. Still, most agree that antioxidants are very beneficial in the process. These are tied to preventing damage to cells, which is linked to cancer, aging and other diseases. The molecules are able to safely interact with atoms to stop the chain reaction before damage is done.

Defeating these radicals can prevent onset of numerous diseases and may even extend the life span of individuals. It is also ideal to avoid the causes of these radicals. However, these are basically everywhere. Some general factors associated with radical forming include: stress, metabolism, aging, sugar, coffee, additives, coffee, herbicides, pesticides, pollutants in the air, water pollutants, solar radiation, electromagnetic fields, radon gas and chemical solvents.

Being informed is essential. People are encouraged to thoroughly research the topic. A variety of websites and publications have information on this topic that is worth knowing. Every person is different but there are some positive results, including elimination of radicals, that can come from making some lifestyle changes.

Many resources recommend preventative action, such as avoid the formers. Still, it may be a good idea to add more antioxidants into the body through diet and vitamins. Living a healthy life is always a better bet when it comes to elimination or reduction of these harmful atoms.

Even though certain people may become frightened, vision changes of this kind do not typically indicate serious health issues. However, frustration can set in when one cannot see good enough to operate a car or read. Fortunately, trifocal lenses can be purchased for those who need multiple powers in one pair of glasses or contacts. In the 1780s, Benjamin Franklin invented the first bifocals. The first bifocals featured a line traveling the width of the lens. The top section was for distance vision, and the bottom for reading. As people reach their fifties, intermediate vision sometimes fails, depending on how the aforementioned presbyopia develops. When bifocals are used, a person c...
